The match will take place in Glasgow, on March 21st, 2020. With the front-runner facing the winner of the Norway-Serbia match, which will also be an away game
The Euro 2020 playoff draw took place on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland. The draw resulted in the Israeli National Team meeting in the semi-finals the Scottish National Team in Glasgow on March 26th.
In case Israel will make it to the final, it will face the victor between the Norwegian and Serbian sides. The Israeli National Team also drew an away game in Belgrade or Oslo for the finals, in case it reaches it. The game is scheduled for March 31st, 2020.
Team Israel’s Technical Manager, Willi Rutensteininer: “This is a massive challenge and massive opportunity. We have three months to prepare, and will do everything to arrive at optimal shape to the most important game Israeli football saw in the past 20 years. I am convinced that we have the best coach and best players for the task. We faced Scotland twice in the Nations’ League, we know them and they know us. The unsuccessful ending of the Early Euro campaign shouldn’t have an impact of the game in March. I know for sure that an entire country will stand behind us and pray for our success. We want more than anyone to succeed and bring an achievement to our football and to the country of Israel.”
The team’s Coach, Andi Herzog: “There is nothing we will not do in the next months to make sure that we arrive to such an important game in the best shape. I am confident in my ability to lead the team to an achievement. I am full of motivation and awaiting the moment we will gather and stand ready for one of Israel’s football highlights. Starting today, I am already planning to learn every detail related to Scotland, and of course to think about how I can improve on, and fix every problem we had. This is a challenging opponent, and the fact that it is an away game doesn’t make things easier. But we have players that are aware of the greatness of the moment and the opportunity they got. This will be a war from the first minute to the last. And, when an entire country will be with us, this dream may turn into reality.”
Striker Munas Dabbur: “This is a very difficult draw, but at the end of the day it is one game and this is the opportunity everyone has been dreaming off. We need to come at the peak of our readiness and top ourselves in every minute of the game in order to surpass Scotland.”
Captain Bibras Natkho: “This is the most difficult draw we could have gotten. We played there not too long ago and we know how tough it is in that stadium with a very difficult home advantage. They are a good team and we will need to be at our peak to succeed and move to the next stage. I believe it can be done, especially given it is only one match. Let’s hope we arrive at the game with everyone fit, healthy and prepared, and that we all do the job in the best way possible. We can make history in one week.”
Striker Eran Zahavi: “We worked hard to come to this moment. This is a one-time opportunity, something that happens once in 20 years in our football. There is not one player that wouldn’t want to be part of our team in these moments, and nobody wants to make history more than us. We are looking right now only at the semi-finals, and thinking about how to move past a challenging rival like Scotland.”
