Special Olympics, Athena - the center for the promotion of women's sports in Israel and the football association - jointly announced the establishment of a women's team that will represent Israel at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin in June 2023. This historic move is underway thanks to the mobilization of all the bodies together. This will be the first football team for women with cognitive disabilities (Down syndrome, autism, cognitive impairment, developmental intellectual disabilities)
The women's team that will be formed will have the opportunity to train under a professional training team led by former player Silvi Jan. Monthly trainings, a meeting with the stars of the Israeli national team and also: representing the State of Israel at the 2023 World Games.
