The football associations of Israel and Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding this morning (Thursday) before the friendly match between the U17 National teams of the two countries. In the presence of the Ethiopian Ambassador to Israel, Rata Elmo, Oren Hasson, the association's chairman, and his Ethiopian counterpart Asais Jury signed a cooperation agreement between the associations in a variety of areas: friendly games between teams, technological partnership, competition management, children and youth football development, coach training, Referees Development and more.
Oren Hasson, chairman of the Football Association: "Israeli society is composed of a unique variety of identities and cultures, which creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Football is a mirror from which society is viewed, influenced by it and influences it.
A wonderful miracle happened to Israeli society, which was blessed with hundreds of thousands of members of the Ethiopian community. The birth cords were not easy for the absorbed and for the receptors, but this natural connection is the shade we so wanted for the whole picture. I can not imagine even one thing in the State of Israel without my brothers and sisters from Ethiopia, I do not want to see one area in which my brothers and sisters from Ethiopia are not part of it.
"To my pride and joy, our football is where everything connects. The similar and the different. The new and the old. Our national teams were blessed with the natural talent of the community, and they also led us to wonderful achievements. Amia Taga scored the first goal for the European Under-21 Championship. Eli Desa was the first Ethiopian captain of the young team in 2007 and currently stars in the senior team and the Dutch team: vitesse arnhem. Almost every locker room in the national teams and football leagues in Israel - women and men, children and adults - enjoys the blessing of the Ethiopian boys born and raised here.
"The Memorandum of Understanding we are signing today, with the encouragement and support of the UEFA, is another important pillar in the courageous relationship between the two countries that has been developing for many years. Alongside the games themselves between the two teams, playing our and your national anthems, we also ensure prosperity, cooperation and deepening ties in many other aspects of the game - education, technology, competition management, children and youth football development, coaching coaches, referees and more. I am convinced that we have something to contribute to you, just as yours has quite a few things to teach us. And here too the whole will become large and varied in the sum of its parts.
"I would like to thank two officials of the Football Association who contributed greatly to this moment and will continue to contribute to strengthening and developing ties between the two associations and countries in the future - to the member of the Football Association Mani Yassou, And he knew how to overcome any obstacle that threatened this important and historic moment. "
The president of the Ethiopian Association, Asais Juri: "I would like to express my appreciation to the Israeli Association for the invitation to come here, our second home. This is a formative moment that is much more than a football game. We will strengthen the ties between us even further in favor of the development of football in the two countries. Signing the Memorandum of Understanding is a visible act and the big meaning is the way we implement things. We are as committed to this as you are. I hope to see you soon in Ethiopia, hoping to have a friendly match with the senior teams. I believe that together we will do wonderful things for the benefit of both countries. '
Ethiopian Ambassador to Israel Rata Elmo: "The two countries and the two peoples have a long common history and this event lays wonderful foundations for a common future. Football is a great option for promoting the partnership and deepening the ties. We start with football, but I call on other industries to build successful connections with the corresponding unions in Ethiopia. Thank you for the great investment for a promising future. '
